All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) State general secretary Kanam Rajendran has sought a comprehensive inquiry into the transfer of the State-owned Kerala Hitech Ltd. (KELTEC), which was to have been handed over to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), to the private sector BrahMos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram Ltd. (BATL).
Terming the deal mysterious, Mr. Rajendran told a news conference here on Monday that the last Left Democratic Front (LDF) had decided to hand over control of KELTEC to DRDO and not to convert it into a private entity.
Going by the government order of October 11, 2007, KELTEC was transferred to DRDO for Re.1. However, for mysterious reasons, it was registered as the subsidiary of a private company. This was clear from the documents filed by the company before the Registrar of Companies and the documents released by the Industries Department under the Right to Information Act, he said.
