Air Marshal Ajit S. Bhonsle took charge as the Senior Air Staff Officer of the Southern Air Command here on Tuesday.
A press note here said Air Marshal Bhonsle was commissioned into the flying (navigation) branch of the Air Force on June 8, 1978. He is an alumnus of the Bhonsala Military School, Nasik, and the National Defence Academy, Pune, and had graduated from the Defence Services Staff College, the College of Defence Management and the National Institute of Defence Studies, Tokyo.
His ground assignments included the roles of the Chief Administration Officer at the Air Force Station, Pune, and the Principal Director (Intelligence) at Air Headquarters, New Delhi. Air Marshal Bhonsle is an A1-qualified navigation instructor with 5,200 hours of flying experience on a number of transport aircraft. Prior to this appointment, he was the Senior Officer in-charge, Administration, Headquarters, South Western Command, Gandhinagar. He is a recipient of the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and the Vishisht Medal, the press note added. — Special Correspondent
