Thiruvananthapuram: The week-long celebrations to mark the 74th anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF) concluded at the Southern Air Command (SAC) headquarters here on Monday.
Air Marshal and Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, SAC, P.S. Ahluwalia, attended the pledge taking ceremony that marked the conclusion of the celebrations. He greeted Air Force personnel and their families on the occasion, a press release issued by the Press Information Bureau (Defence Wing) said here on Monday.
The celebrations included social functions, attended by serving and retired IAF personnel and their families. The SAC was established in the early 1980s. The Command has made significant contributions to the operational efficiency of the IAF. The Command had actively participated in the major air operations in Sri Lanka and Kargil. It was responsible for some major relief operations during natural calamities.
