The Theeradesa Nethruvedi will organise an agitation here on October 22 demanding a Vigilance inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the utilisation of the tsunami fund and waiving of debt of fisherfolk during the tenure of the previous Left Democratic Front government.

At a press conference here on Saturday, Nethruvedi president Veli Varghese said a special package for the fishing sector, addressing the issue of inadequate quota of kerosene for the fisherfolk, and inclusion of the fisherfolk who were members of the welfare fund in the below poverty line (BPL) list were its other demands. The agitation would include a march from the Martyrs' Column to the Secretariat, to be followed by a dharna in front of the Secretariat.
