The AITUC-affiliated Kerala State Transport Employees Union will take out a march to the Secretariat on Monday in protest against the hike in the price of diesel for bulk consumers. The union will continue its agitation till the hike is withdrawn. The hike in the price of diesel to the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) had put the Corporation in a major crisis, union general secretary I. Satish Kumar said in a release. The only way forward for the KSRTC was to seek exemption from the 19.8 per cent sales tax being paid to the government. It said the decision to suspend services would result in loss of job of empanel drivers and conductors.
