Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan on Thursday termed the Kerala High Court verdict dropping him from the list of accused in the land case as the victory of truth and justice. Mr. Achuthanandan termed the case the outcome of a conspiracy hatched by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty to remove him from the post of Opposition leader.

The court order was a setback to such attempts, he said.

Special Correspondent writes from Kannur: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said that the State government has already made it clear that the case will be seen by its legal merits. Reacting to queries from mediapersons after the inauguration of the Kannur airport project office here on Thursday, Mr. Chandy said the government would not use the land allotment case for political purposes.

The High Court had quashed an FIR against Mr. Achuthanandan in the case.

‘No vendetta’

Special Correspondent writes from Kochi: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here on Thursday that the government had had never indulged in vendetta. The case had gone to court after a long interval since the FIR was filed, he said.
