Fourth accused in the case surrenders

The Town South Police team, headed by Circle Inspector of Police B. Santhosh, that questioned the first accused, Mohammedali, 22, in the murder of Raghu, a taxi driver from Thrithala, got information about his involvement in the murder of Asia of Deshamangalam in Thrissur. The police said the accused had confessed that he along with Prasad, another accused in the Raghu murder case, killed Asia.

Both the accused were also involved in the theft of eight motorcycles, the police said. The fourth accused in the case, Abdul Taheer, surrendered before the police here on Thursday.

Mohammedali was remanded to 14 days judicial custody by the Palakkad First Class Judicial Magistrate Court-III.

The second accused in the case, Umesh, 27, son of Ayyappan of Kokkikulambu Veedu, Karapotta, near Kannampara in Vadakkumcherry, Palakkad, was arrested earlier in connection with the murder of Raghu (Kannan), 39, son of Muthu of Alakkalparambu of Chelakkara in Thrissur district. The body of Raghu was found under the Thirunellai bridge in Palakkad town last Friday.

The accused engaged the taxi for a trip from Thrithala to Ooty. The driver, Raghu, was murdered by the four-member car-lifting gang. The body was thrown into the river from Thirunellai bridge and the accused took the car to Ukkadam in Coimbatore.
