The All Kerala Private College Teachers’ Association (AKPCTA) has criticised the move on the part of the MG University authorities to call a meeting of the Academic Council this weekend. In a statement issued here, district secretary Tomichan Joseph said that the four-year tenure of the council had ceased in January 2012 and the move to call a meeting of the body now was invalid. “The University authorities’ plan to call the ex-officio members and the Syndicate members and hold elections to the statutory bodies, is undemocratic,” they said. The AKPCTA leader called upon the Chancellor and VC to intervene immediately to save the university.
