  • Show conceived by students of fashion designing

    KANNUR: A fashion event titled `Ablaze 07' was held here on Friday under the aegis of Kannur University and the Institute of Handloom and Textile Technology (IHTT), Thottada.

    `Ablaze 07' was conceived by students of postgraduate diploma in fashion designing, IHTT, the university's community college for fashion designing. The event was aimed at breaking general design trends and introducing a variety of stitching patterns and different aspects of placement of grain lines in designing costumes.

    The two-hour presentation was inaugurated by Kerala Handloom Exports Organisation president C. Jayachandran. North Malabar Chamber of Commerce president B. Maheshchandra Baliga, university union chairman K.V. Sumesh and IHTT director Kareem Cheleri were present. The event included exhibition of innovative products, ethnic saris, hand-woven fabrics developed by the students.

    The show was aimed at popularising innovative Indian fashion trends, the organisers said.
