About 350 underprivileged children in the State are set to get a taste of air travel when they will be taken in a specially chartered aircraft from Kochi for a joyride as part of Children's Day celebrations on Sunday.

The trip is organised by the national carrier Air India in association with the Rotary Club Aluva, H.P.C.L, KERA UAE, among other corporate partners. The flight is scheduled to take off from the airport here towards Kanyakumari at 11.30 a.m. and will return after a one-hour flight.

Education Minister M.A. Baby and special invitees from the entertainment world including actor Mamtha Mohandas will also accompany the kids in the 423-seater jumbo aircraft. The children for the flight have already been selected from the four districts of Ernakulam, Kottayam, Thrissur and Idukki.

In addition, a magic show will be held for the kids and they will be served free food. The airline is organising this trip from Kochi as a gesture of goodwill for the fifth time.
