Kavalam Narayana Panicker's drama troupe has given Malayalam cinema some of its best actors.
They include Bharat Gopi, Nedumudi Venu and Jagannathan.
Krishnan, yet another actor groomed by Panicker, makes his presence felt in Malayalam cinema through `Oral,' directed by Kuku. Krishnan's co-stars in the film are Mukesh and VJ Shreya Reddy.
Krishnan has been with Panicker's troupe for the past 12 years.
He has played major roles in several Kavalam plays, including `Karnabharam' (which had actor Mohanlal playing the lead), and `Aprakhyan,' directed by Bharat Gopi.
Krishnan played a complex role in the Kavalam play `Kalivesham,' portraying a thespian being psychologically influenced by the dark characters he plays.
"Training at Sopanam (Panicker's troupe) makes an actor aware of his body language and introduces him to the intrinsic rhythm of acting that each part demands. In Kavalam plays, physical theatre is at its best. This training has shaped the actor in me," Krishnan says.
The role in `Oral' demands intense physical acting and Krishnan has done it with ease.
So perfect were his movements in the abstract choreography that his co-star Shreya wondered, "How do you manage to do it so well?"
