Travel packages being organised

KOZHIKODE: A two-day tour with stopovers at wildlife sanctuaries in the Malabar region is one of the popular travel packages being offered by Associated Holidays here as part of the Malabar Shopping Festival.

The journey through the Silent Valley in Palakkad district, which is known for its rich biological diversity and comprising seven per cent of the rain forests of the world, was a novel and relaxing experience for the tourists.

The rare sighting of the endangered lion-tailed macaque was another added attraction of the journey through the rain forests.

The largest butterfly in the world, rare medicinal plants and the ancient plant species the `tree fern' are part of the valley's treasures.

The travel package will include visits to Silent Valley, Parambikulam, and Aanamala. The tour was being offered at a 25 per cent concession in view of the shopping festival, said the organisers.

Tourists will get the opportunity to see the largest number of animals in the wild at the Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary.

In view of the overwhelming response to the travel package, the tours would be organised again on January 27 and 28.

Another tour package on the anvil is a 20-day trip with stopovers at 15 wildlife sanctuaries and national parks in the State, the organisers added.
