Kochi's expectations suffered a jolt when Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac presented the State budget in the Assembly last week. The Minister spoke about the Information Technology (IT) development project in Thiruvananthapuram and the IT Corridor from the capital to Kollam. But those who expected something on Smart City were disappointed. In fact, the Kochi project (Smart City) had faced severe criticism from the Left Democratic Front in the run-up to the Assembly elections.

Anyhow, it did turn out to be bad news for property dealers who had been making hay while the sun was shining.

Whether this phase will continue is a question worrying them.

Several among them are said to be preparing to migrate to the emerging IT fields elsewhere.
