PATHANAMTHITTA: The Lord Parthasarathy Temple on the banks of the Pampa at Aranmula will host the annual ritualistic feast for devotees on Sree Krishna Janmashtam (Ashtami Rohini) on Friday.
Hundreds of devotees have gathered at the temple for the occasion amidst the singing of ‘vanchippattu,’ hymns in praise of Lord Krishna.
The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) and the Aranmula-based Palliyoda Seva Sanghom (PSS) have constituted a six-member committee for the smooth conduct of the event, on a directive from the High Court in this regard earlier. The six-member organising committee comprises PSS president K.V. Sambadevan, secretary Ratheesh R. Mohan, P.S. Nair and K.N. Viswanathan, both representatives of devotees, the TDB administrative officer and the assistant commissioner at Aranmula.
Mr. Sambadevan told The Hindu that arrangements had been made to serve the feast to 70,000 people on Ashtami-Rohini day. The crew of 38 snake-boats (palliyodams) would attend the ritualistic feast.
The Ashtami-Rohini Vallamkali, a snake-boat regatta, will be held in the Pampa on Friday.
