PALAKKAD: As part of the ‘Corruption-free Walayar check-post’ campaign of the Commercial Taxes Department, 40 women officials have joined duty at the inter-State checkpoint. Though the government posted 51 fresh hands selected by the Public Service Commission at Walayar, only 40 have joined duty till Thursday. They include 15 clerks and 25 peons. The first batch of eight peons was posted two months ago on an experimental basis. Since there was no problem for these women to work at the check-post, 32 more women officials have joined duty there since then, said D. Daly, Deputy Commissioner, Commercial Taxes Department, here on Thursday.
