The government would set up 300 model youth welfare centres at panchayat-level across the State with a view to improving the employment opportunities for the youth, said V. Surendran Pillai, Minister for Youth Affairs and Port.

The Minister was inaugurating the panchayat-level ‘Keralotsavom' at Thannithode near Konni on Saturday afternoon. He said the proposed youth welfare centres would be of great help in the personality development of the youth. These centres, with potential for employment generation, would gradually evolve into “mini employment exchanges” in rural areas, he said.

Mr. Pillai said the State Youth Welfare Board would launch programmes to address various problems facing the young generation.
