17 injured in stray dog attack in Kannur

None of the injuries serious; woman moved to Kozhikode MCH

At least 17 people were injured when stray dogs attacked them at 6 a.m. on the boat jetty, Haji road, and on the railway station premises of Pappinissery.

The dogs, at some places, had entered houses and attacked even small children and the elderly who were sleeping. None were seriously injured.

T.V. Sathi, one of the injured, has been shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital (MCH), Kozhikode, following some uneasiness after she was administered vaccine, sources said.

The injured include three children, one of them a four-year-old.

An elderly man of 85 years of age also sustained injuries in the attack.

Some of the injured underwent treatment at the Pappinissery primary health centre while six of them have been admitted to the District Hospital here.

An elderly woman had died and nine people were injured after they were attacked by a rabid fox at Anjarakkandy barely three weeks ago.
