Nearly 160 foreign films will be screened in the 44th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which is scheduled to be held from November 20 to 30 at Goa.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, joint director of Press Information Bureau S. Subramanian said 15 films would compete for the Golden Peacock award. This year, the IFFI would have a special section for films from North East.

Hollywood actress Susan Sarandon and Iranian director Majid Majidi among others would attend the festival, he said.

Mr. Subramanian also informed that Children’s Film Festival, also known as the Golden Elephant will be held from November 14 to 20 at Hyderabad.

Around 200 films from 48 countries would be showcased at the festival, he added.
