The police have seized nearly 1.5 kg of ganja and arrested one person from the KSRTC bus station here on Monday.

According to the police, Sumesh (41) of Puthanparambil house at Chingavanam was arrested during his attempt to sell ganja which he had procured from Cumbum. Acting on the basis of a tip-off, a few police personnel in mufti posed as prospective customers and met the accused at the bus station. Soon after a deal was struck, the police requested the accused to show them the ganja.

The police personnel nabbed the accused soon after he revealed the drug that had been stored in a plastic bag. Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the accused had attempted to sell the drug at Chinganavam.

While he had bought the drug from Cumbum at a rate of Rs. 5000 per kg, he had intended to sell the ganja in small bags at rates ranging from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 40,000 per kg.
