THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Principal Sessions judge K. Ramakrishnan on Thursday sentenced Rajesh, a resident of Lalitha Bhavan, Kadinamkulam, in the district to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.1 lakh for carrying 2.5 kg of hashish two years ago.

The court also sentenced the second accused, Chandran, a resident of Thunduvila Veedu, Paravoor, to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for attempting to carry hashish and another 10 years rigorous imprisonment for hatching the plot.

The judge fined Chandran Rs.1 lakh each for the two offences.

Rajesh, the first accused in the case, was held with 2.5 kg of hashish from Sreekariyam on October 20, 2006, by a team led by the Excise Circle Inspector B. Suresh Kumar.
