The Sabarimala Sree Ayyappa Dharma Parishath will open 100 service centres across the State for pilgrims during the Mandalam-Makaravilakku season, its president, Ayarkunnam Raman Nair, said here on Tuesday.

In a statement, Mr. Nair said the parishath, in association with the Travancore Devaswom Board and the government, would provide health care, information and free food at Sabarimala, Pampa, Nilackal, Pandalam, Thiruvalla, Pathanamthitta, Erumely, Kadappattoor, Ettumanur, Kottayam and Guruvayur.

He said the parishath would work in tandem with various Ayyappa temple committees outside Kerala for transporting pilgrims.

Plea for concession

Mr. Nair called upon Railways and road transport corporations of various States to allow a 50 per cent concession on fare for the pilgrims.

He said the State government should do away with taxes on the facilities made use of by the pilgrims. The vehicles carrying Sabarimala pilgrims should not be charged for parking at Pampa, Nilackal and at major temple complexes in the State. Mr. Nair said the parishath would move the Kerala High Court if the Devaswom Board did not stop collecting parking fee.
