The Yadgir Zilla Panchayat has directed executive officers of the three taluk panchayats to submit a report on the number of dengue cases, action taken to curb its spread and the number of fogging machines available in the district.

President of the zilla panchayat Maremma Shanyanore and vice-president Shrenik Kumar Dokha, at the general body here, took exception to the lack of information provided by officials about dengue in the district. Members said the officials had failed to provide details sought by them.

Basavaraj Khadre, panchayat member, said several people were admitted to hospitals, both government and private.

Mr. Khadre sought details of the preventive measures taken to curb the spread of the disease.

District Health and Family Welfare Officer Mallikarjun Mukka said so far, 11 cases of dengue had been reported in the district and fogging had been taken up in the affected areas.

As the members were not satisfied with the sketchy details given, they sought to know in how many villages fogging had been taken up and the number of machines available in the district.

However, the officers failed to provide the full details.

Hence, Ms. Shanyanore directed the officials to submit a report within three days.

Members also took exception to what they claimed the failure of the Agriculture Department in providing seeds, pesticides and fertilizer to farmers. The ZP president asked officials of the department to provide details at the next meeting.

Chief Executive Officer S.A. Jilani and other senior officials were present.
