SHIMOGA: Minister for Water Resources K.S. Eshwarappa said on Monday that unemployed youth should not lose confidence as lack of it might lead to disasters in life.
Inaugurating an awareness programme of the Karnataka State Khadi Board as part of its employment creation scheme in rural areas, he said the youth should be determined about their future plan.
"All of you should think that you are the assets of society and none of you can become a liability," he said.
Role of parents
He underscored the role of parents in shaping the destiny of their children, which could not be assessed in terms of money.
He said it was only through fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of their parents, children could repay their debt to them.
Changes in society
Mr. Eshwarappa said that rapid changes in society had created new job opportunities and it was for the youth to make use of them.
Those going in for self-employment should repay their loans promptly, he said.
He reminded the youth that nothing was impossible for them to achieve, provided they displayed firmness and determination.
President of the Shimoga Zilla Panchayat Bharathi Manjunathaiah presided over the function. Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat P. Bore Gowda, Assistant General Manager of the NABARD Krishna, Assistant General Manager of the Canara Bank V.R. Bylur, S. Ramachandra Bhat of the Karnataka Bank, V.B. Desai of the Pragati Gramina Bank and Superintendent of the State Khadi Board M.G. Ashok were present on the occasion.
Raghavendra Adiga welcomed the gathering. M. Venkateshmurthy spoke on the new employment scheme.
