This was disclosed by Minister for Urban Development S. Suresh Kumar, who is also the Minister in charge of Mysore district, at a meeting with district officials at the Deputy Commissioner's office here on Saturday.

“Let us use this year's Dasara festivities as a medium for the development of the State. Let the festivities this time be better than the previous year's,” the Minister urged.

The Minister suggested that police personnel, autorickshaw and taxi drivers be trained to behave courteously with tourists visiting the city during Dasara.

Bringing down the number of Dasara sub-committees; early appointment of members to the sub-committees; early identification of sponsors for Dasara events; organising fireworks outside Bannimantap stadium after the torch-light parade; providing an opportunity for artistes from all districts to participate in the Dasara procession; and identification of artistes for the cultural events were some of the suggestions made at the meeting.
