The free students hostel jointly established by the Shimoga District Veerashaiva Employees' Welfare Association and Rao Bahadur Gubbi Totappa Dharma Samsthe here will be inaugurated on November 27, said association president C.S. Shadakshari.

He told presspersons here on Friday that food and accommodation would be offered for poor students at free of cost in the hostel. He said 50 students were admitted to the hostel through interview this academic year. The hostel had a reading room. Training in yoga, meditation, and sports will be offered for students here, he said.

The hostel is functioning at the building of Badaganadu Hemareddy Mallamma Samaj in Navule area of the city. Association has planned to build its own building in two years. It has been planned to increase the intake to 200, and establish a separate hostel for girls, he said.

The former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa will inaugurate the hostel.

Mallikarjuna Murugharajendra Swamiji of Bekkinakalmath, Minister for Excise M.P. Renukacharya, MPs B.Y. Raghavendra, Ayanur Manjunath, President of Bharatiya Janata Party State unit K.S. Eshwarappa, MLAs B.K. Sangameshwar, and K.G. Kumaraswamy are expected to take part in the programme, he said. The convention of State Veerashaiva Employees Welfare Association will be held in Davangere on December 4 at 11.30 a.m. Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, Shivakumara Swamiji of Siddaganga Math, Shivamurthy Shivacharya of Sirigere Math, and Chandrashekhara Shivacharya Swamiji of Hirekalmutt will take part in the programme, he stated. Association functionaries C.G. Parameshwarappa, Lokesh, Puttappa, Nataraj, and Prasanna Kumar were present.
