Just three months ahead of elections to the zilla and taluk panchayats, Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Saturday announced that he would launch a programme from next month to “gift” a sari estimated at Rs. 200 to Rs. 250 to each of the beneficiaries of the Bhagyalakshmi Scheme. Participating at an interaction with organic farmers at Maakanahalli of Tumkur district, Mr. Yeddyurappa said he would hold taluk-level programmes to honour the beneficiaries with saris. They would be transported to the venue free of cost.
