The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and other Ministers facing allegations of irregularities in the land denotification scam. It has demanded a CBI inquiry into it.
State Secretariat member of CPI (M) G.N. Nagaraj told presspersons here on Saturday that the party, which has already launched a campaign “to ouster the BJP Government and Save Democracy”, will hold meetings in district, taluk and hobli levels.
Mr. Nagaraj said the party's Secretariat, which met in Bangalore on Wednesday, had also decided to seek resignation of Ministers G. Janardhan Reddy, G. Karunakara Reddy and B. Sriramulu as they were facing charges of illegal mining.
It also wanted the resignation of Minister for Energy Shobha Karandlaje and Home Minister R. Ashok as there were allegations against them also. The Minister for Information Technology Katta Subramanya Naidu, whose son is also an accused in the scandal, should tender resignation while Minister for Industries Murugesh Nirani should follow suit owning moral responsibility for the scam, as the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) functioned under him, Mr. Nagaraj added.
Mr. Nagaraj said the CBI should register cases against all the accused and launch an investigation.
Mr. Nagaraj said that a convention will be held in Mangalore on December 3 against the Yeddyurappa-led BJP Government.
