‘Rs. 15 crore for development of Eesuru village’

Mini Vidhana Soudha inaugurated in Shikaripur

SHIMOGA: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa was accorded a rousing reception at Shikaripur by various associations and organisations on Friday evening on his first visit to his home town after assuming office.

Mr. Yeddyurappa visited Huchrayaswamy temple and Basaweshwara temple in the town.

Later, he was felicitated by the taluk unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Speaking on the occasion party leaders Padmanabh Bhat, Shantaveerappa Gowda, Ashok, Shekharappa and Rama Naik thanked the voters in Shikaripur constituency for having elected Mr. Yeddyurappa to the Assembly with a huge margin.

Replying to the felicitation, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that Eesuru village, known for its contribution to the freedom struggle, in the taluk would be developed at a cost of Rs. 15 crore. Mr. Yeddyurappa said that he would set up a separate office in his official residence in Bangalore to look into the grievances of the people of the constituency. A separate authority would be set up for the development of birth places of spiritual leaders such as Akka Mahadevi and Allamaprabhu in the taluk, he said.

Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Mini Vidhana Soudha.

He gave away compensation to the family members of the five people who were killed in a road accident at Gogga recently. Speaking at the civic reception accorded to him by the Shikaripur Town Municipality, the Chief Minister asked the officials to respond to the problems and grievances of people.
