Many people are wondering why the portrait of the former Chief Minister B.S. Yedduyrappa should figure in the numerous banners that have been put up by the district administration and the Davangere Urban Development Authority for the inauguration of the Deputy Commissioner’s office complex here on Saturday. His portrait figures prominently, along with Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and others.

To a question, Deputy Commissioner S.S. Pattanashetty initially pleaded ignorance about the portrait of Mr. Yedduyrappa figuring in the banners.

No reply

Later, he tried to defend it by saying that Mr. Yeddyurappa was a former Chief Minister.

However, he had no reply when his attention was drawn to the fact that D.V. Sadananda Gowda was the immediate past Chief Minister.

He said that he would explore the possibility of replacing the banners with ones having only the portraits of present Chief Minister and the Minister in charge of the district, among others.
