Goa Director of Information and Publicity Menino Peres has appealed to the writers in Konkani language to go beyond the script-divide and enrich the literary works in Devnagari and Roman scripts of Konkani.
Mr. Peres was releasing Jwalamukhi , a book of Konkani essays in roman script by Ms. Guadalupe Dias, a Konkani poet, at a function organised by the Dalgado Konkani Akademi in the city on Saturday.
Parish Priest of Nuvem Church Fr. Alvaro Martins, writer Walter Menezes, President of Dalgado Konkani Akademi Premanand Lotlikar, Secretary Salvador Fernandes, writer Dias, President of Konkani Akademi N. Shivdas, and President of Tiatr Akademy Tomazinho Cardozo were present.
Mr. Peres said people should realise that a language that had more than one script was not a hindrance but an advantage.
Such a language should be considered a rich language, he said.
Ms. Dias, who wrote with equal flair and had quite a few collections of poems in both scripts to her credit, said the script controversy did not bother her and she continued her literary work with devotion.
