There will be a three-day workshop on writing Tulu dramas at Govindadasa College, Surathkal, from September 26.

Organised by Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, about 40 participants were expected to participate in it, academy registrar B. Chandrahasa Rai said.

Mahalinga Bhat, Udyavar Nagesh Kumar, I.K. Boluvaru, Sukhananda, and Shakuntala Bhat will be the resource persons.

Academy president Paltady Ramakrishna Achar would attend the valedictory of the workshop on September 28. Head of the Department of Kannada Abhaya Kumar will inaugurate the workshop on Monday, he said.

The first printed Tulu drama book available is Janamarl written by Madhava Thingalaya and published by S.V. Paniyadi in 1933. S.V. Paniyadi was the father of Vadiraj, noted Kannada film actor of yesteryear. It may be mentioned here that a Tulu drama Oriyardori Asal by Vijayakumar Kodialbail was adapted to the silver screen recently.
