BANGALORE: The Sports Authority of India (SAI), Southern Centre, organised a two-day workshop on “Latest trends in sports coaching” at its conference hall here on Monday.

About 30 coaches participated on the first day. G. Kishore, Regional Director, SAI Netaji Subhas Southern Centre, urged the sports fraternity to look into the core issue of “strengthening the system in our country”.

R. Venkata Rao, Vice-Chancellor, National Law School of India University, spoke on sports law relating to the “principles of natural justice” and also the hazards of doping, while Pathros P. Mathai, the former Executive Director of SAI, brought forward the “ills” and the realities of sports in India, with accent on “accountability being largely negligible at all levels”.

V. Ravi Anshuman, an expert from the Indian Institute of Management, talked at length about “consumer and sports marketing with relevance on using celebrities and newer technologies for development of sports”.
