DHARWAD: As many as 150 delegates, including engineering students, are expected to participate in a national workshop on “Energy sustenance towards better environment” at SDM College of Engineering and Technology in Dharwad on Friday.

Director and Principal of SDM College of Engineering and Technology M.N. Sudheendra Rao said that the Department of Chemical Engineering of the college was organising the event in which five eminent personalities would participate.

Donald Reinalda, Regional Manager, Exploratory Research and Biodoman, Shell Corporation India Private Limited, Bangalore, will inaugurate the workshop and deliver the keynote address at 9 a.m.

Prof. Rao said that Aravind Chinchure, General Manager, Innovations, Reliance Innovation Leadership Centre (RILC), Pune, M.A. Kamoji, KLE College of Engineering and Technology, Belgaum, J.R. Mudakavi, Principal Research Scientist, IISc, Bangalore, Vidya Shetty of National Institute of Technology-Karnataka, Surathkal, are among the panellists for the workshop.

Prof. Rao said that the college had been organising programmes with “energy as a theme” and the workshop was one among the series of programmes on the theme being organised by the college.

He said the college had formed a solar research team, which was working on solar reflectors. The college was also working on a “Hybrid grid concept” involving utilisation of solar, wind and bio energy concurrently.

Professors M.S. Patil and S.K. Dhoolkhed said that more than 70 teachers, researchers and students from various parts of the State would participate in the event.
