MANGALORE: A workshop on Intellectual Property Right was held at the Canara Engineering College here on Tuesday.

The participants discussed about the possible impact of the implementation of “Protection and Utilisation of Public Funded Intellectual Property Bill 2008”, which was introduced in the Rajya Sabha on December 15, 2008.

The workshop had been organised by the Acadinet Education Service India Pvt Ltd India. The programme was aimed at introducing the various aspects of the Intellectual Property Right, their legal significance, and the basic knowledge of how to apply for it and protect those rights. The participants pointed out that such a law was prevailing in advanced countries such as the U.S. and Japan. The Union Government was proposing such a law. It was yet to be passed in the Parliament, they said and added that the enactment of this law was essential.
