Divisional Railway Manager of Hubli Praveen Kumar Mishra has said that work on developing the Hubli railway station will be taken up in full swing within the next 15 days.

He was speaking to presspersons after the inauguration of the Science Express, which reached Hubli on Tuesday.

Mr. Mishra said the Hubli railway station was being developed at a cost of Rs. 9 crore. He said that so far 25 per cent of the construction work had been completed and the remaining work would be completed by the year-end.

He said that land acquisition was a major issue in facilitating track-doubling projects. “To tackle the issue, a committee comprising senior railway officials from the Operating Department, Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL) and other departments will be formed,” he said.

He said that by issuing offer letters to 325 ex-servicemen, the Hubli Division was the first to complete the recruitment process. He said that the Group D recruitment process of 2007 had been completed and the selected candidates would get appoint letters within four or five months.
