Four bus bays to be built at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh; Chief Minister to inaugurate
Work on bus bays on the Bangalore-Mysore State Highway here commenced on Tuesday.
The Mandya district administration has decided to construct bus bays at four places to ease traffic.
The work on the first bus bay, which will come up outside the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus stand, has commenced and will be completed before December 14. The Bangalore-Mysore State Highway connects Bangalore with several major destinations in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, including Udhagamandalam and Wayanad. Thousands of vehicles ply on this highway.
Following a meeting of officials, including Mandya Superintendent of Police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, it was decided to construct four bus bays — KSRTC bus stand, Silver Jubilee Park, Mysugar Factory Circle, and outside the district health officer’s office.
The bus bays will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh, in all.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is expected to inaugurate the first bus bay near the KSRTC bus stand on December 14, a senior officer in the district administration told The Hindu .
Work is expected to pick up speed by Thursday.
