Over three hundred women have been allegedly duped by one Preetam Kumbhar, who came from Andhra Pradesh to Sangli and with help of three local representatives appealed women to invest in a camphor factory, which would provide employment in return. According to a preliminary estimate, the women of Sangli invested about Rs. 50 lakh. The women were given receipts marked ‘Ganesh Traders’; however, after a month Kumbhar disappeared.
