BANGALORE: A newly married woman committed suicide at her house in 1st Block, Rajajinagar, on Tuesday night.
According to police, Poornima (24) hanged herself from the ceiling fan when she was alone at the house. She had married Nikhil, a private company employee, a month ago. Poornima has left a note that she was ending her life since she was feeling depressed and lonely as she was staying away from her parents. The Subramanyanagar police have registered a case of unnatural death.
In another incident, an employee of a subsidiary company of the ICICI group was found dead at her house in HSR Layout police station limits.
The police said the body of Sumalatha (30) was found hanging from the ceiling in her house in Sarjapur. The police suspect that she could have committed suicide.
Five years ago she had married Vijay Kumar, an engineer in an IT company. The couple, hailing from Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh, had moved to Bangalore six months ago. They have a two-and-half year old daughter. They had been to Guntur for Easter and had returned on Monday morning.
The police said Vijay Kumar, who had left home for work around 2.30 p.m. on Monday, returned around 4 p.m. on Tuesday. When Sumalatha did not open the door, he peeped through a window and found her body hanging from the ceiling. Sumalatha’s baby was with her grandparents in Guntur.
On a complaint by Sumalatha’s father Sudhakar Rao, the HSR Layout police have registered a case. Sudhakar Rao has told the police that his daughter and son-in-law were living happily and Sumaltha’s suicide has come as a shock for him. After the inquest by the jurisdictional tahasildhar on Wednesday, the body was handed over to the family.
