In a ghastly incident, unknown miscreants barged into a locked wine shop and killed its cashier on Friday night. They also smashed the head of the wine shop assistant before escaping. The incident occurred inside the Ambari wine shop off Hesaraghatta Main Road in Chikkabanavara.
The police identified the deceased as Madhu of Kunigal. The injured Girish (26) of Mallasandra near Tumkur has been shifted to a hospital.
The miscreants allegedly entered the shop by pounding down the door, the Soladevanahalli police said. They bludgeoned Madhu's head with a brick, killing him on the spot. The incident came to light on Saturday when an employee of the bar came for Friday's collection, the police added. The police suspect that the murder was committed because of a quarrel that occurred a week ago with some unidentified customers at the wine shop. Wine shop owner Raveesh has filed a complaint. A locked house in Athibele in Bangalore Rural district was found burgled on Friday.
The Athibele police have taken fingerprints and other vital clues from the house and are investigating.
The West Division police have arrested five men in connection with a double murder here recently.
The accused have been charged with killing Prakash Babu alias Diamond Babu (32) and Munna alias Muniraj (23) in Dhruva Bar and Restaurant off Magadi Main Road on November 15, said the police. The accused have been identified as Sanjay (26), N. Shivu (25), Hameed alias Daddu (36), Ravi alias Choda (32) from Magadi Road and Imtiaz Shafiulla (34) from Gopalapura.
