MYSORE: Rangayana is making efforts to prove that it is Rangayana-Karnataka. As part of this endeavour, Rangayana is touring the northern parts of the State to stage plays and change the general feeling that it is serving only Mysore and its surrounding areas. After 15 years, Rangayana is visiting Bellary, Gulbarga, Raichur, Bijapur, Bidar, Belgaum and Dharwad districts.

Rangayana director Chidambara Rao Jambe told The Hindu that to celebrate Suvarna Karnataka in a meaningful manner, it had been decided to hold "Ranga Yatre" in the northern parts of the State with the assistance of district administration and the Department of Kannada and Culture, he said. The repertory would tour the area in three teams from February 10 to February 27 and stage two plays each in the district headquarters. One of the teams would stage only children's play to draw children's attention to theatre, he added.
