Test your aptitude and quiz experts at our Career Guidance Session on May 14
It is time once again for The Hindu Career Guidance and Counselling programme. In your city for the third time on May 15, this time's event offers an interactive session with experts, career counsellors and admission officials, and more. The nine-city event is slated to be held at the Nutana Ravindra Mantapa on the MGM College campus here from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
On offer for the first time, is an “Aptitude and Abilities” test. A concept less understood, aptitude tests are designed to tell you what profession, line, or direction in career you are best suited for. We bring you this test, free of cost, in partnership with our assessments partner MeritTrac, a skills assessment firm. The hour-long test is divided into three sections, each of which tests you on a different metric of aptitude. Together, this test is used to prepare for you a three-page report which will provide insights that will help you gauge your skills and orientations. This report will be emailed to you within a week's time.
Then, of course, there's the staple – an interactive session for students and parents to talk to experts from professional fields, admission officials from the Karnataka Examinations Authority and Dr. Rajeev, who represents the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental college of Karnataka (comed-k). Education counsellors and subject experts from engineering and medical fields will participate in an interactive session.
Pro Vice-Chancellor of Manipal University H. Vinod Bhat will inaugurate the session in Udupi and deliver the keynote address on “Aspiration or aptitude: Making the right career choice”. As chief guest, he will release our 130-page career handbook Set Your Own Stage, a well-researched publication that presents a wide range of expert articles charting trends, providing information, and helping students plan their next step. A free copy will be given to all participants.
Our panellists include Pushpa Kini, head of the Department of Paediatrics at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal; Somashekhara Bhat, Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal; C. Shreesha, professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte; and M. Radhakrishna, Professor, Department of Commerce, MGM College.
