Subject experts, admission officials will interact with you

It is time once again for The Hindu Career Guidance and Counselling programme. In your city, on May 15, this time's event offers you an interactive session with experts, career counsellors and admission officials, and more. The event is slated to be held at the organised at the SBC First Grade College for Women in SS Layout here.

What's aptitude?

On offer for the first time is an “Aptitude and Abilities' Test”. These tests are designed to let you know what profession, line or direction in career you are best suited for. We bring you this test, free of cost, in association with our assessments partner MeritTrac, a skills-assessment firm.

The hour-long test is divided into three sections, each of which tests you on a different metric of aptitude. Together, a three-page report will be provided to you later that gives you insights and helps you gauge your skills and orientations. This report will be e-mailed to you within a week's time.

Then, of course, there's the staple — an interactive session for students and parents to talk to experts from professional fields, admission officials from the Karnataka Examinations Authority and the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental College of Karnataka (Comed-K).

Vice-Chancellor of Davangere University Prof. Indumathi will inaugurate the programme. She will also release our 130-page career handbook, “Set Your Own Stage”, a well-researched publication that presents a wide range of expert articles charting trends, providing information and helping students plan their next step after graduation. This book will be given free of cost to all attendees.

P. Nagaraj, Principal of S.S. Medical College and Hospital, Prof. S. Shanmukhappa, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering at BIET College, are among the subject experts on our panel.

The Hindu EducationPlus invites students and their parents to the programme. Students studying in 10th, 11th and 12th standards or Pre-University Course can participate. For details, email or call 080-22864240 or James Lobo on 8884195820
