Quiz our experts on admissions and professions, and take an aptitude test

In its eighth year, The Hindu EducationPlus annual career guidance sessions are a much-awaited event among the city's students. We're back this time, bigger and better, for the thousands who stand at a crossroads, yet to make that confusing career decision.

When and where

This year's event will be held at the Mount Carmel Auditorium, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on May 14.

We invite experts, both on subjects and on admissions, and provide you a platform to quiz them. As an add-on this year, we bring you an Aptitude and Assessments Test to be taken during the session. Offered free of cost in association with our assessments partner MeritTrac, the results of the test (given in the form of a three-page analysis report) is designed to help you gauge your orientations and understand what careers you're best suited for. You will be emailed this report within a week.

The event will be inaugurated by our chief guest and keynote speaker Dileep Ranjekar. The Chief Executive Officer of the Azim Premji Foundation, he also plays a pivotal role in the foundation's recently opened Wipro University. He will address students on “Aptitude or Aspiration — What Makes a Good Career Choice?”

Free handbook

Along with our other chief guest, Soundara Kumar, Chief General Manager, State Bank of India (Karnataka), Mr. Ranjekar will release our career handbook, Set Your Own Stage. This 130-page handbook, which will be given free to all participants, offers guidance on career options ranging from pure mathematics and medical research to animation and fine arts. It also carries articles that will help you choose a college, demystify the admission process and offers a four-step plan to improve your soft skills.

Interactive session

Rashmi Mahesh, Executive Director of the Karnataka Examinations Authority, and KEA officials will brief you on the CET admissions process. For private college admissions, the Executive Secretary of the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMED-K) will talk and clear doubts during the interactive session.

While these speakers will help demystify the baffling admissions process, our expert panel comprising specialists from engineering and medicine will take course-specific questions. Ameen-e-Mudassar, Director of CIGMA Infotech, will give a talk on various course options. Similar events are being held in nine other cities over the weekend, including Mysore, Udupi, Hubli, Gulbarga, Shimoga and Davangere, all centres where we met with tremendous response from the student community in previous years.

Invitation

The Hindu EducationPlus invites students and their parents to the programme. Students studying in Classes 10, 11 and 12 or the Pre-University Course may participate.

You are advised to arrive 30 minutes prior to the event for registration.
