Test match to be played at KSCA stadium in Hubli
After having successfully hosted a Ranji Trophy match after a gap over two decades, Hubli will play host to an international cricket match in the month of October.
India ‘A’ team will play a four-day cricket match with West Indies ‘A’ team at KSCA Stadium at Rajnagar in Hubli from October 4 to 7. Last December, Hubli hosted the Ranji match between Karnataka and Haryana.
BCCI’s Cricket Operations Manager Suru Nayak, who inspected the facilities at KSCA Stadium in Hubli on Wednesday, expressed satisfaction over the arrangements.
Speaking to presspersons after the inspection of the ground, Mr. Nayak said the pitch and ground had the quality required for hosting international matches and there was a good facility for net practice.
However he pointed out that the stadium lacked a medical room, which could be set up within the next two months. He said both teams would reach Hubli on September 30 and would do net practice on October 1 and 2. The match would be officiated by BCCI first grade umpires and referees, he said.
Mr. Nayak said the West Indies ‘A’ team would be playing all its matches in Karnataka. A single 20-20 match, three one-day matches and three first class matches had been distributed between Shimoga, Hubli, Mysore and Bangalore.
He said the match to be played at Shimoga would be telecast live and he would be visiting Shimoga and Mysore to check the facilities. He was accompanied by KSCA Dharwad Zone president Viranna Savadi and convener Baba Bhusad during the inspection.
