HASSAN: Supply of drinking water is likely to be affected from Saturday as daily wage employees engaged in drinking water distribution handed over keys to their respective Chief Officers/Commissioners to participate in the strike launched by the civic employees throughout the State, Karnataka State Civic Employees’ Association Hassan District unit president Krishna Murthy said here on Friday.

In Arsikere town, striking civic employees led by their president Thimme Gowda took out protest rally and formed human chain at the busy Pathre Puttappa Circle and resorted to rasta roko. This was followed by burning the effigy of Municipal Administration Minister Alanguru Srinivas.

After burning the effigy, they returned to Town Muncipality office and continued their dharna. On Saturday, civic employees will stage dharna before the residence of MLA Basavaraj.
