S. Thirunavukkarasu, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Tamil Nadu State committee member, stressed on the need to wage a relentless struggle against multinational companies that are making forays into the Indian economy.


He was speaking at a meeting at Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) on Sunday, organised to pay tribute to the late trade unionist and freedom fighter S. Savaridas.

“Savaridas actively participated in the struggle to free the country from the foreign yoke. Waging stirs against the anti-people economic policies of governments and against the onslaught of MNCs, will be a fitting tribute to the late leader,” Mr. Thirunavukkarasu, who is also the All-India Agricultural Workers' Union secretary, said.

Portrait unveiled

CPI(M) State secretary G.V. Srirama Reddy unveiled the portrait of Savaridas, who was a prominent leader of Bharat Gold Mines Ltd. employees for many decades. The former MLAs M. Bhaktavtsalam and S. Rajendran and KPRS State general secretary G.C. Bayya Reddy spoke.

The former CPI(M) district committee secretary G. Arjunan presided over the meeting.
