HUBLI: With rain continuing in Haveri district, five more villages were cut off on Thursday by the overflowing Varada, Kumudwati and Tungabhadra rivers.

According to official sources, road links to Mevundi, Halagi, Marola, Hamsi and Shakara in Haveri taluk, along the banks of the the Tungabhadra were cut offThe river also flooded fields along its banks. With the authorities announcing that 300 cusecs of water would be released from the Bhadra reservoir following the inflow of 5,266 cusecs on Thursday, more fields along the banks of the Tungabhadra are likely to be inundated.
