SHIMOGA: The Regional Office of the Vijaya Bank organised "Vijaya Adalat" here on Tuesday to dispose of long-pending cases of non-recovery of loan by offering the benefit of the one-time settlement with certain concessions.

As many as 150 cases of non-repayment of the loan were disposed of at the adalat before fresh loans to the tune of Rs. 50 lakh were disbursed to them. The 150 cases of non-recovery of the loan reported from 18 branches of Shimoga, Chikmagalur, Chitradurga, and Davangere districts involved small and marginal farmers.

The adalat was held in the presence of the Regional Manager of the bank P. Satish Shetty and the Chief Manager Balakrishna.

Mr. Shetty said "Vijaya Adalat" was the most successful of the adalats held by the bank so far.

He said it would be held in the selected branches in a phased manner to help the poor and small borrowers in trouble and facilitate them to get fresh loan after clearing the old ones.
