SHIMOGA: Tirthahalli taluk police have tracked down a gang of inter-state vehicle lifters. They have recovered five Qualis Vans worth over Rs. 30 lakh reported to have been stolen from different parts of Bangalore.

According to the press release, police was suspicious about the movement of a person in a Qualis van in and around Agumbe on March 8. When questioned the person revealed his identity as Rajesh (22) a car driver of Sampigehalli near the Bannerghatta National Park.

He reportedly admitted that the van he was driving was stolen from Indira Nagar in Bangalore. The police confiscated the stolen van and presented it to the court after Rajesh was remanded in the police custody for further investigation.

According to the press release, the vans stolen from different parts of Bangalore by Rajesh along with K. Rajesh, Yallappa, Basavaraj were recovered from different parts of Tamilnadu.

On information from Rajesh the police arrested the lorry driver K. Rajesh of Bairappanahalli near Bannerghatta and Asai Tambi a car driver of Pukkampetti of Salem district in Tamilnadu who were allegedly engaged in selling the stolen vans with false documents. However the main accused Vijay (27) of Salem district is absconding.
