CHAMARAJANAGAR: Members of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike took out a procession here on Tuesday to protest against “irregularities” in the government district hospital and to urge the government to provide better facilities in the hospital.

Raising slogans against the State Government, the protesters marched from the Chamarajeshwara temple to the District Offices’ Complex where they submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.

They alleged that doctors at the hospital were forcing patients to buy medicines from private chemists and demanding money through middlemen for conducting surgeries. They said the hospital lacked drinking water facility and toilets.

They urged the Government to fill vacant posts in the hospital.

There was no blood bank in the hospital and patients who had to undergo major surgeries were being referred to K.R. Hospital in Mysore, they said.
